Common Interest Groups

SMTA has an exciting program to address members’ interests and needs directly, building on the extraordinary richness and diversity of our community of music teachers.

laughing in a meetingOur Common Interest Groups move SMTA beyond our monthly General Meetings, into members’ homes and studios all around the city. Any teaching-related area you’d like to explore with your peers is a potential topic for a CIG, and you can set up anything from a single meeting to an ongoing group spanning several months. CIGs are a wonderful way to develop your own professional interests while developing camaraderie and friendship with your colleagues.

It’s easy to start a group! You choose dates, times and locations that work for you. If the group fills with your specified number of people, it takes place; and if it doesn’t — well, nothing ventured, nothing gained! Why not give it a try?

If you would like to set up a CIG please contact Rachel Matthews, our CIG Coordinator by selecting “Common Interest Groups” as the subject on our contact us  page.
