The SMTA Remains Active!

During the shutdown, the SMTA has still been very active. Many of our members have moved their studios online and continue to teach, and are rapidly learning how best to serve their students in this new environment. Several spring SMTA events have been cancelled but the board and event chairs are busy preparing for next season, including discussing contingency plans if in-person events are still not an option.

The SMTA looks forward to our first online General Meeting on May 19th. This is an important meeting to vote in board members and approve the upcoming season’s budget.

If you haven’t yet, check out the MTNA National Conference website. In light of the public health situation, the MTNA chose to move the conference online, and offer content FREE to ALL music teachers. This is an amazing gift. The content will remain online for some time, so you can return and learn as time allows.

The MTNA has also compiled a list of resources to assist teachers at this time. This includes primarily resources to help move your teaching online, from equipment reviews to practical advice.

Members, please join the virtual meeting on May 19th! (All current SMTA members will be emailed a Zoom link to attend the meeting.) It’s important to have a quorum to carry out the vote.
