A note from Robin McCabe and Craig Sheppard, Co-Directors of the Seattle Piano Institute:
Session One of the Ninth Annual Seattle Piano Institute, for students age 16 and over, runs from July 8-18, and provides private instruction, daily masterclasses, seminars and lectures, plus a trip to the Seattle Chamber Music Festival on July 11. Professor Ory Shihor, this year’s Keynote Artist and Head of Piano at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, gives two days of masterclasses on July 13 and 14. In addition, of special interest to the musical community is our Final Showcase Recital in Meany Theater at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18.
Session Two, for students age 9-15, overlaps with Session One on the 18th, and finishes on the 21st. Private lessons with Drs. Amy Grinsteiner and Dainius Vaicekonis are supplemented with masterclasses with Dr. Robin McCabe and Craig Sheppard.
All masterclasses are held in Brechemin Auditorium at the University of Washington School of Music. These are free of charge to the public, as are the seminars and lectures. The venues for the latter will be announced closer to the time.
We look forward to having you come and meet, and support, these gifted young pianists!
