This service is a member benefit and, as such, is free to current SMTA members. For others, the rate is $20. To place an ad, email text and photos to smtaoffice@gmail.com and click the button on this page to pay the fee if not an SMTA member.
Classified ads will be emailed out to the membership and posted here for three months, or until you request its removal. They will also be included in the next issue of our newsletter.
*The SMTA reserves the right to refuse any ad. In the rare case an ad is refused, the ad fee will be refunded.

Suzuki Association Educator Workshop

You're invited to join us for an incredible music teacher training workshop called "Move Better, Play Better!" this October. Sponsored by the Suzuki Association of Washington State, this year's course is open to ANY music teacher and ALL instruments and vocalists. We will enjoy four 75 minute long classes: two Alexander Technique workshops, a Feldenkreis Method class, and a yoga for musicians class that features body mapping and self myofascial release. It will be an inspiring day rich in information with chances to move, learn, and try new ideas!

Now Hiring: Music School Coordinator Position

Dusty Strings Music Store & School is looking for an individual dedicated to promoting music education to be our Music School Coordinator. The Dusty Strings Music School fosters a lively, fun, team-oriented environment and is committed to bringing music and musical instruments into people’s lives.
Dusty Strings, as a store and a school, is dedicated to serving the needs of the Seattle music community – particularly the folk music community – providing the resources to allow members of the community to grow and flourish. We feature a large showroom of acoustic and electric instruments for sale, a repair shop, and a spacious music school that offers private lessons and group classes.
As the Music School Coordinator, you will be in charge of running the school day-to-day, overseeing our faculty of teachers, and working with students. You will report directly to the store manager. Hours will be 32-40 per week, with some flexibility for evenings or weekends required.
Duties:
• Be the warm, friendly face of the Music School
• Monitor daily schedule of private lessons, group classes, workshops, and free jams and meetups
• Coordinate the yearly schedule of group classes, workshops, recitals, and events
• Keep staff, faculty and students informed on the latest school offerings
• Pursue lesson leads for new students and help them get started in the school
• Help recruit new faculty members
• Promote the music school via flyers, online listings, and social media
• Keep school spaces clean and tidy at all times
Job Requirements:
• 18 years or older
• Completed COVID-19 vaccine, except as necessary to accommodate disability or religious belief
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• A musical background and a passion for education
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Basic math and computer skills
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience with promotion, via social media and print advertising
• Familiarity with image editing software
• Knowledgeable about American roots music, playing styles, and music history
• Ability to play one or more instruments
Compensation:
• $20 - $25/hour starting pay, depending on experience and qualifications, with regular reviews
for merit raises

Day of Historical Keyboards - September 28th

Whidbey Island Music Festival is planning a marvelous celebration of historical keyboards to be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, 10am-4pm. The location is lovely Whidbey Island, a draw to tourists in its own right.
You'll hear Recitals and Q & A Sessions on an amazing range of historical keyboards. The performances will start with the exquisite, subtle sounds of the Clavichord and Lautenwerk, move on to the Harpsichord and Fortepiano, and conclude the day with the grand Baroque Organ. It is a very rare treat to get to see and hear so many different historical keyboards in one place!
What an opportunity to explore and be inspired by these wonderful instruments! Piano teachers and students are especially welcome.

Job Opening: Cornish + Voices Teaching Artist - Cornish College of the Arts

Job Description:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Voices Instructor to lead a diverse group of singers ranging in age from 6 to 70+. Cornish+ Voices is a multigenerational choir with sectionals throughout the city that culminate with a final joint performance at the end of 10 weeks. Cornish+ Voices is open to people of all musical backgrounds, ranging from never sung before, to musicians. The repertoire is taught by ear, with the lyrics projected, no previous musical background is required to be part of Cornish+ Voices. As a teaching artist, you will be responsible for learning the chosen repertoire while leading engaging rehearsals.

Key Responsibilities:
● Conduct regular choir rehearsals, including warm-up exercises, and ensemble singing sessions.
● Provide constructive feedback to develop skills and confidence of the group.
● Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere within the choir, encouraging collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect among members.
● Maintain regular communication with group members and parents, regarding rehearsals, performances, and any relevant updates or announcements.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or related field (preferred).
● Proficiency in piano and ability to sing along with the choir when needed (preferred). Proven experience leading choirs or vocal ensembles, with the ability to manage a large group of all ages.
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
● Passion for community engagement and music education with a commitment to fostering a
● Organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
