Music Literacy Program Awards:

 
  • All students receive a Certificate of Participation.

  • Those who score 94% or higher on the Written Theory receive a gold seal on their certificate.

  • Students who score 98% or higher on the Written Theory receive the gold seal plus have their name

    (and teacher’s name) published in the WSMTA newsletter, The Clarion.

No monetary prizes are associated with the Music Literacy Program.

Simon-Fiset: Strings Division

The Simon-Fiset Strings Competition is open to students ages 5-18 who have not graduated from high school.

Simon-Fiset: Composition Division

Chair: OPEN

Registration: TBA, typically mid-February through mid-March

The Simon-Fiset Composition Competition is open to students in school grades 1-12 in four grade-level categories. New composers are encouraged to enter! Entrants submit a score and a recording of their piece (using live instruments or digital instrumentation). Students may submit more than one composition, but must submit a separate application and fee with each composition. 

All entrants receive age-appropriate positive and constructive feedback from the adjudicator. Winning entrants receive certificates by mail, and Visa gift cards.
