Music Literacy Program Registration deadline

Be sure to register by today for the Music Literacy Program!

About the Music Literacy Program (MLP): Designed as a suggested curriculum of independent music study, the Music Literacy Program offers an opportunity for students to learn, refresh, and/or further their musicianship in five skill areas:

  • Sight reading (on piano)

  • Technique/Applied Theory: keyboard scales, arpeggios, and chord progressions

  • Rhythm and pulse development (clapping rhythms)

  • Listening (ear training)

  • Written Theory

The syllabus, skills checklists, and other information related to the program’s content are available on the WSMTA website.

This noncompetitive program consists of 10 progressive levels. There is much flexibility in matching each skill area to the student’s ability. An annual assessment provides valuable feedback for teachers, students and parents through a written evaluation and individual scores in each area. The program is open to students of all ages including adults.

The program will be held online this season.

Registration is open March 1-April 9. The event dates are May 1-2.
