Music Literacy Program Updates
MUSIC LITERACY PROGRAM

Here is the information for the Music Literacy Program from the WSMTA and SMTA websites:

This year, the event will be May 6 and 7, 2023 and will be hosted by Cornish College of the Arts, 1000 Lenora Street, Seattle, WA 98121.
To participate in this program, I recommend the following steps.
1. Determine each of your students' levels. Even if you don’t participate in the program this year, it is great to understand where each of your students is and help them to progress steadily. This

2. Use the registration preparation worksheet from the WSMTA website to finetune the students' levels in various areas. Remember, you can register students at Level 3 for Rhythm and Level 1
for Sight-Reading, etc. based on their levels for each skill set. Below is a link from the WSMTA website for your convenience to the registration worksheet:

All my students follow the curriculum, because I think it is important to have an objective measure for student progress. Some students may not want to participate in the Music Literacy Program every year,
and that's okay. Once they feel confident with the materials, most students enjoy participating and being recognized for their achievements.
Registration will open online on March 1st. January is a good time to set some New Year's goals and get your students excited about the program. If you have any questions about the program, the preparation, or the registration process, feel free to reach out to the co-chairs.
